Suzie Leon is a Boston-based, self-taught watercolor artist whose work focuses on intimate, expressive animal portraiture. Drawing since childhood, she has spent years developing a personal artistic style rooted in observation, emotion, and storytelling. Suzie has always been fascinated by the moment when an animal's expression stops her in her tracks because it feels familiar. In those moments, the boundary between "human" and "animal" softens, and what remains is something universal: curiosity, comfort, grief, affection, playfulness, wonder.
Suzie’s paintings begin with that recognition. She chooses subjects whose expressions invite empathy, not because they remind us of animals, but because they remind us of ourselves. Through watercolor, she hopes to preserve those fleeting encounters and encourage viewers to see the natural world not as something separate from us, but as something we are still deeply connected to.
With a background outside of traditional fine arts training, Suzie brings a fresh and intuitive perspective to her practice. She is currently expanding her portfolio with the goal of collaborating with corporate art programs, galleries, and creative companies that connect emerging artists with collectors and public spaces.
